Mayor Pro Tem – Alderman Place #5
Phil Rutledge is assuming the day to day operations of Coffee City until a new Mayor is selected in the General Election in November.
Phil has been involved in the air conditioning industry for 46 years. He joined Lau Fans in 2008, after selling Rooftop Systems Inc. (RSI) to Ruskin, Lau’s parent company. He retired from Lau at the end of 2014.
Before that, he was the President and founder of RSI, and as such was involved in all its daily activities, including sales, accounting, manufacturing, and engineering. He holds three U. S. Patents, all related to the rooftop air conditioning industry.
Marquis R. Castleberry
Mr. Castleberry was born in Kaufman, Texas and immediately transitioned to Tyler, Texas where he was raised. He lived and worked in Tyler into his adulthood until he moved to Coffee City, Texas in 2007. He’s been married to Vicki B. Castleberry for over 30 years. Throughout his career, he’s enjoyed working with her in the field of education as a teacher and administrator until retiring in the year of 2011.
He’s had the pleasure of participating in the life long hobbies of fishing, tennis, some travel, daily relaxation, and last, but certainly not least, Church activities.
Since moving to Coffee City, he has developed a strong interest in the its future growth economically (business/job opportunities), demographically (annexing surrounding communities), residentially (housing), and its community relations.
It is his goal, mission, and desire as a member of the Coffee City – City Council, to work diligently, and cooperatively with the Mayor, members of the city council, and the citizens of Coffee City in discussing, creating, developing, and applying ideas that address the needs of this great city.
Alderman Place #4
Riley Standifer was born and raised in East Texas. He has been a Coffee City resident for the past 18 years. He graduated from John Tyler High School, TJC, and the University of Texas at Tyler.
After serving as a Military Policeman in the US Army, he returned home and served with the Tyler Police Department and Kelly Springfield. He retired from GE, Trane/American Standard after 28 years as a Senior Production Specialist.
He and his late wife of 49 years raised 3 children. A close knit family, now including numerous grandchildren, they enjoy camping, boating and large family get-togethers.
He and his late wife also served as Youth Directors at Glenwood Methodist Church. Riley currently serves as a deacon at Flint Baptist Church.
Don Weaver has been a Coffee City resident since 1990. He and his wife, Mary, have been married 30 years. He moved to East Texas in 1986.
He is currently serving his second term as councilman, has served as Mayor Pro Tem and is also the Economic Development Corporation Vice President.
Mr. Weaver is presently a small business owner. Previously, he had careers in Fortune 500 companies, in charge of territory creation, with many projects in the southern United States and Mexico. Vast exposure to East Texas area lead to many products for industries now used worldwide.
